As the Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University History Society, we were pleased to host Samet Doğan, one of the leading figures in the field of war correspondence, at our university.
The conference titled “War Correspondence and Syria” was held with the strong participation of our students. Within the scope of the program, Samet Doğan shared his experiences related to working in conflict zones, real-life stories he reported from the field, and his observations on the humanitarian dimension of war. He also provided important insights into journalistic ethics and responsibility, news verification processes, and the challenges of reporting in conflict environments. The conference, which offered participants a comprehensive professional and humanitarian perspective, was followed with great interest by our students.
We extend our gratitude to Samet Doğan for accepting our invitation despite his busy schedule and for sharing his valuable knowledge and experiences with us; we are pleased to have hosted him at our university.
We also thank the History Society’s executive board, all stakeholders who contributed to the event, and the students who participated in the program. The AYBU History Society will continue to organize activities that contribute to academic and cultural development.
