History, language and geography awareness are the most important elements that sustain a nation. It is a known fact that nations without this awareness cannot continue their existence. The discipline of history, one of the most important branches of the field of social sciences, aims to build the future based on the past with a perspective that is objective, based on documents, and filters existing documents through criticism. Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Department of History provides the scientific and academic environment necessary for the training of historians who are knowledgeable about the basic approaches of historical science, have theoretical and practical knowledge, and are competent in designing and conducting scientific research; have critical thinking skills; is aware of their responsibilities towards themselves, their environment and the society they live in, and adhere to professional and scientific ethical principles.
It aims to teach the main information from the Ancient Age to the history of the Republic and to provide a source language and a Western language in order to examine historical documents / enter the archives;
It aims to train individuals who will serve as Faculty Members, Researchers, Lecturers, Archivists, and History Teachers in the field of History, who have a good command of historical methodology, know at least one source language and a Western language, approach history objectively and without bias, are able to conduct comparative historical research, and can think scientifically and critically.
Our Vision
Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Department of History is a department that is based on original and primary sources, aims to contribute to the personal development of its students by offering them the opportunity to take courses from different departments and faculties, examines the issues from different dimensions within the framework of the triangle of yesterday, today and tomorrow, thinks critically and objectively and constantly improves itself with contemporary methods.
