The conference, organized by the History Department and featuring Prof. Dr. Hakan Kırımlı as the speaker, was held on 10 March 2016, at the Cinnah campus. During the event, Kırımlı explained Russia's policy towards Crimea by discussing the relations between Crimea and Russia from the past to the present. He focused on the justifications for Russia's occupation of Crimea, emphasizing that Russia's claim over Crimea lacked valid and justified reasons, and pointed out that the occupation was not based on legitimate grounds, as Russia claimed. In his speech, Kırımlı expressed the state of instability in the region and stated that the occupation of Crimea did not receive enough attention, especially among neighboring states. The conference concluded with the presentation of plaques.
