Threshold of Two Worlds, the Cradle of Er Turk, Turkestan, and Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Exhibition

At 10:56, the photo exhibition titled "The Threshold of Two Worlds, The Cradle of the Ancient Turks, Turkestan, and Hoca Ahmet Yesevi" was presented to art enthusiasts at the Etlik 15 July Martyrs' Building, organized in cooperation with TURKSOY, the Khoja Ahmet Yesevi Museum, and our university.

The exhibition, which opened on 8 May 2018, featured 40 photographs depicting Turkestan, 30 artifacts from the Khoja Ahmet Yesevi Museum in Turkestan, and medieval manuscripts written by and about Hoca Ahmet Yesevi.

In his opening speech, TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş highlighted the long-standing cooperation between Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and TURKSOY, saying, “These works are part of the works that emerged at the 14th Turkic World Photographers’ Meeting held last year in Turkistan, the cultural capital of the Turkic world. Every year, TURKSOY gathers photographers as part of its traditional activities, contributing to the promotion of the natural beauties, cultural heritage, and human profiles of the Turkic world. It introduces our shared cultural values to the world. In addition to the displayed works, we have included photographs from the Khoja Ahmet Yesevi Museum in Turkestan and historical manuscripts. We hope you will follow these works with great interest and care.” Prof. Dr. Purtaş also noted that the university’s hosting of the exhibition strengthens the cultural ties between Anatolia and Turkistan and expressed pleasure for the continuation of future collaborations.

Professor Dr. Veli Çelik, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Ankara University, who spoke next, expressed his pleasure about the opening of the exhibition, which will introduce Turkestan and its values, and about hosting the esteemed Turkestan delegation at their university. He also mentioned that in the coming days, they would like to host an oil painting exhibition featuring works from TURKSOY. The opening was attended by several faculty members and students, including Prof. Dr. Sıddık Çalık and Research Assistant Dr. Tekin Önal from the History Department at   Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Mehmet Şahbalı, Secretary of the Faculty of Law, along with many other faculty members and students. The exhibition will be open for students and art enthusiasts to visit for two days.
