Second-year students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University organized a technical visit to two important industrial companies as part of the “Manufacturing Technologies” course conducted by Prof. Dr. Adem Çiçek. Within the scope of the visit, students toured the AKDAŞ facilities in Ankara Sincan and the Mechanical and Chemical Industries Corporation (MKE) facilities in Kırıkkale.
At the AKDAŞ facilities, located in the Ankara Sincan Organized Industrial Zone, students had the opportunity to observe many processes related to casting technologies on-site. During the visit, the preparation of casting molds, the use of casting ladles, and the post-casting breakdown processes of sand molds were examined in detail. Students were also shown how casting patterns produced from foam and wood materials are shaped using CNC machines. In addition, comprehensive technical information was provided on possible surface and structural defects after casting, non-destructive testing methods used to detect these defects, and occupational safety measures applied in the production environment.
During the technical visit to the Mechanical and Chemical Industries Corporation (MKE) production facilities in Kırıkkale, students had the opportunity to examine high-precision production lines used in the defense industry. Welding operations, machining processes, and cold forging operations were observed on-site. Students also had the chance to see machined components before assembly as well as finished products after assembly used in weapon production processes directly in the production environment. In the briefing sessions conducted by facility engineers, students were informed about the technical details of production processes, quality control practices, and the organization of production lines.
