Step by Step ENGR450
This program is not just an internship or a graduation project. Before applying to this program, you can read the relevant regulations and request information from the department chair regarding what kind of application it is, what responsibilities you will have, or what advantages it provides.
Students wishing to benefit from this application must have a GPA of 2.75 or above at the time of application.
If there is no protocol between the company you agreed with and AYBU, you must submit to the department chair a certified letter of acceptance and your transcript for ENGR450, along with a petition. You can start your process after obtaining approval from the department chair regarding the suitability of the company. (If a protocol is signed, you can skip this step.) You can request the list of companies with protocols from the department secretary.
After starting, to ensure communication between your assigned company advisor and your academic advisor, you should inform both parties via email. Once both advisors approve, you should determine your research topic and fill out the topic determination petition, get it approved by your company advisor, and submit it to your university advisor.

While continuing your work, you should report weekly on your progress during the office hours determined by your academic advisor. You must actively participate in your academic advisor’s company visits and contribute to healthy communication between the advisors.
Your attendance at the company will be continuously monitored. The maximum 20% absenteeism rule applied in practical courses also applies to this program.
The midterm report (Template: click here.) must be submitted to your university advisor with the signature of your company advisor by the last day of the midterm period. In this report, you should summarize the research you have done up to that day and any preliminary results. Your ENGR450 midterm grade will be given based on your midterm report performance.
The Final Report (Template: click here.) must be submitted to your university advisor with the signature of your company advisor by the end of the semester. Your report will be evaluated according to the information here. While preparing your report, you are expected to follow these instructions. The weight of your final report in your final grade is 60%.
It is important to properly research the relevant literature while writing your report. If you do not properly cite the literature or other sources you use, legal liabilities (such as plagiarism) may occur. A simple example of how to create references is provided in the midterm and final report templates and here.
The final presentation (Template: click here.) will take place at the end of the semester with the participation of academic and company advisors at the scheduled time and date. Your presentation will be evaluated according to the information here. The weight of your final presentation in your final grade will be 40% and the evaluation will be done by both academic and company advisors.
