Step by Step ENGR450
-
This program is not just an internship program or a graduation project. Before applying to this program, you can read the relevant legislation about what kind of application it is, what responsibilities you will have, or what kind of advantages it will provide, and request information from the department chair.
-
Students who want to benefit from this program must have a GPA of 2.75 or above at the time of application.
-
If there is no protocol between the agreed company and AYBU, you must submit a petition to the department chair with a certified letter from the business stating that you have been accepted within ENGR450 and your transcript. After obtaining approval from the department chair regarding the suitability of the business, you can start your procedures. (If there is a protocol signature, you can skip this step.) You can check the list of companies with protocols from here.
-
After starting, to facilitate communication between your assigned/determined advisor in the company and your academic advisor, you must inform both parties via electronic mail. After obtaining approval from both advisors, you should determine your research topic and fill out the topic determination petition, then get approval from your company advisor and reach out to the university advisor.
-
You can access the document containing what is expected from you during your research at the company here. It is expected that you strictly adhere to all the topics specified here. -
While continuing your work, you must report weekly on the progress of your work during the office hours determined by your academic advisor. You should actively participate in company visits by your academic advisor and contribute to healthy communication between advisors.
-
Your continuity in the company will be constantly monitored. The minimum attendance requirement of %80 in practical lessons also applies in this program.
-
The interim report (click for draft) must be submitted to the university advisor with the signature of the company advisor by the last day of the midterm dates of the relevant period. In this report, you should summarize your research and preliminary results up to that date. Your ENGR 450 midterm grade will be given based on your interim report performance.
-
The Final Report (click for draft ) must be submitted to the university advisor with the signature of the company advisor by the date determined at the end of the relevant period. Your report will be evaluated based on the information here. When preparing your report, attention to these is expected from you. The weight of your report in your final grade will be 60%.
-
It is important to properly research the relevant literature when writing your report. Legal responsibilities (such as plagiarism) may arise if you do not correctly reference the literature or other sources you have scanned. A simple example of creating a reference is provided in the interim report and final report drafts and is explained simply here.
-
The final presentation (click for draft) will be held at the time and date determined at the end of the semester with the participation of academic and company advisors. Your presentation evaluation will be made based on the information here. The weight of your final presentation in your final grade will be 40%, and the evaluation will be made by academic and company advisors.
Good luck....
