The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University started its undergraduate education in the Fall semester of the 2011–2012 academic year. The language of instruction is 100% English, and the program is completed in five years, consisting of one year of English preparatory education and four years of undergraduate study.

During the first years of education, students take fundamental engineering courses, while in the second and third years, compulsory mechanical engineering courses become more prominent. In the final year, students have the opportunity to specialize in areas of their interest through a wide range of elective courses. In addition, our students may participate in Minor and Double Major programs offered by other departments.

In addition to undergraduate education, master’s and doctorate programs are also conducted within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The master’s program was established in the 2011–2012 academic year, while the doctoral program was launched in the 2012–2013 academic year.

Under the leadership of our department chair and faculty members, the Hydrogen Technologies and Energy Application and Research Center was established in 2024. Furthermore, with the contributions of our faculty members, the academic journal International Journal of Energy Horizon (IJEH) began its publication in June 2025.

All undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral courses are offered at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, located at the 15 Temmuz Şehitleri Campus. Our campus provides students not only with a strong academic environment but also with rich social, cultural, and scientific opportunities.
