‘Disaster Preparedness Seminar’ was organised at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBÜ). Ankara Studies Application and Research Centre, AYBU Search and Rescue and First Aid Club and AYBU Sociology Society contributed to the seminar.
Prof. Dr. Ramazan Yelken chaired the seminar and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Eryılmaz, President of Disaster Research Association, and AYBU Civil Defence and Firefighting Programme Department Head Lecturer. Assist. Yasin Tahir Karaca participated as a speaker. AYBU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Orçan also attended the seminar and made an opening speech. In his speech, Orçan emphasised the 6 February Kahramanmaraş and TAI attack and stated that our country should be ready for all kinds of disasters.
During the meeting, informative presentations were made on what should be done before, during and after disasters. Speakers emphasised the importance of preparations for the risks that may be encountered in the future in the light of the disasters experienced in our country.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Eryılmaz pointed out that every institution should fulfil its responsibilities in the disaster preparedness process and stated that the development of reason and morality plays a key role in cultural disaster preparedness.
Lecturer. Assist. Yasin Tahir Karaca shared the practical details of individual preparedness processes and shared his important experiences gained in the field.
The seminar ended with the presentation of gifts to the participants and taking a souvenir photo.
