Students who meet the requirements of the relevant sections of the graduate education and training regulations of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and have a master's degree can enroll in the doctoral program. The normal duration of the program is 8 semesters and the maximum period of study is 12 semesters. In order to successfully complete the PhD program, students must successfully complete eight elective courses, one SBE 500 Seminar course and SBE 1000 Scientific Research Methods and Science Ethics courses within a maximum of 4 semesters. After completing the course load, the student is obliged to prepare and successfully defend a Doctoral Thesis within the framework of the Special Specialization Topics course. Students coming to our department from outside the field are required to take four courses from the relevant courses from our department's Master's program under the name of Scientific Preparation. Students who are successful in these courses can continue their education in the PhD Program.
- For application, the applicant must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree from the Department or Division of Sociology.
- Students who apply from outside the Department or Division of Sociology and are successful in the exam will take Scientific Preparation courses for one year.
- Applicants must have a minimum ALES score of 65 in Equal-Weight and a minimum language score of 60 in YDS or equivalent exams in all foreign languages conducted by ÖSYM as a foreign language.
- Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 according to the 4.0 grade point system in the undergraduate or departmental program they graduated from.
- Students who wish to transfer are obliged to comply with the conditions determined by our Graduate School and apply on the relevant dates.
- The application process is carried out through the Institute of Social Sciences, the Department of Sociology does not have the right to receive documents on behalf of the Department.
