Program Learning Outcomes of the Department of Sociology
The program learning outcomes of the Department of Sociology define the knowledge, skills, experiences, and attitudes that students are expected to acquire by the time they graduate:
PLO1
Possesses the knowledge and ability to effectively use advanced information sources, methodological tools, and instruments related to sociology and its auxiliary disciplines.
PLO2
Examines and evaluates concepts, ideas, and data related to the discipline of sociology through social science research methods; identifies, analyzes, and discusses topics in relation to past and present contexts, and presents projections for the future.
PLO3
Can effectively express the knowledge and experience gained in sociology and related fields both in written and oral forms, and provides research and reports to individuals and institutions that require expertise in these areas.
PLO4
Has the ability to think critically and creatively, interpret, synthesize, and evaluate information by using sociological methods.
PLO5
Approaches contemporary sociological conceptualizations, movements, and debates with a critical perspective.
PLO6
Understands trends and needs in the field, recognizes the socio-cultural and economic characteristics of the surrounding environment, and is able to plan, implement, and manage educational and learning processes appropriate to these characteristics.
PLO7
Assumes responsibility in field-related studies and produces solutions either independently or as part of a team.

Follows current research in sociology, comprehends it at a sufficient level, and aims to acquire foreign language proficiency adequate for communicating with colleagues (“European Language Portfolio Global Scale,” Level B1).

Has the necessary knowledge of computer software, hardware, and statistics required by the field of sociology, and uses information and communication technologies effectively.

Demonstrates sensitivity to social, scientific, and ethical values in all stages of collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and emotionally processing data and information in sociological studies.

Applies sociological knowledge effectively in different societies and cultures on an interdisciplinary basis, and participates in interdisciplinary studies with other social sciences.
