An Orientation Program was Held in the Mechanical Engineering Department

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, a comprehensive orientation program was held for new students in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University during the first session of the MCE101 "Introduction to Mechanical Engineering" course.

At the opening of the program, the department's mission and vision were explained to the students, emphasizing that Mechanical Engineering education is not limited to theoretical knowledge but is also supported by practical training, research activities, and project development opportunities. Students were given an overview of the engineering profession's broad career opportunities, interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities, and its contributions to society.

The department's academic staff was introduced to the students, emphasizing the importance of consulting and guidance services throughout the program. The department's laboratory facilities were also presented in detail. It was emphasized that our department, with its extensive infrastructure ranging from mechanics laboratories to design and manufacturing laboratories, from energy laboratories to biomechanics laboratories, plays a strong role in equipping students with practical skills.

The orientation program also highlighted the broad scope of mechanical engineering: It was explained, with examples, that students have made significant contributions to numerous sectors, from mechanics and energy to automotive and biomedical applications, and from aerospace to the defense industry. It was emphasized that with the knowledge and skills they acquire throughout their education, they will be able to play an active role not only in engineering but also in global priorities such as sustainability, innovation, and technology development.
