Purpose of the Program
Studies on occupational health and safety in our country are increasing gradually with the effect of legal regulations. Our doctorate program aims to effectively take the occupational safety and health measures that businesses operating in all fields of work, especially industrial organizations. Our doctorate program aims to fill the lack of academic work in the sector by providing training in line with technological and academic developments in the field of occupational safety and health. For this, the theoretical basis of the profession will be taught with the faculty staff who follow the literature and real practices, aiming to constantly renew and develop themselves, and this theoretical basic laboratory will be realized with the support of practical courses and doctoral thesis.
The guidance of international organizations in formulating national legislation and the importance of the subject has ensured that regulations related to OHS are included in the legislation of almost every country. In the latest regulations on this issue in our country; With the "Occupational Health and Safety Law" dated 20.06.2013 and numbered 6331, all the rules of Occupational Health and Safety were determined. With the "Regulation on the Duties, Authorities, Responsibilities and Training of Occupational Safety Experts" issued in accordance with this law, engineers who have graduated in the field of occupational health and safety have been given the opportunity to become a Class B occupational safety specialist.
With the Occupational Health and Safety Doctorate Program, determining all kinds of factors and practices that may cause work accidents and occupational diseases in the workplace and creating the necessary protection program, determining the risks created by the working environment, planning and implementing the work to improve the environment, It is aimed to carry out activities such as conducting work under safety rules, providing occupational health and safety trainings with high accuracy based on scientific methods and analyzes, and continuous improvement and development.
In this way, it will be possible to realize important scientific publications and studies with the information and opportunities provided from the workplaces, while increasing productivity by applying scientific methods and analysis methods to the working areas in cooperation with the university-industry.
The Occupational Health and Safety program is an interdisciplinary, high-working, comprehensive department. The program is a program that will carry out joint studies with all engineering departments, especially the Industrial Engineering master's program within the Institute of Science, and sub-branches of social sciences under different institutes.
Thanks to the proposed program, joint projects and thesis studies will be carried out with the faculty members of the relevant departments of the university. The laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and related companies will be used in the realization of the thesis and application studies of the program students. Studies that combine theory and practice will be carried out by combining the hardware infrastructure of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences with the practical and theoretical infrastructure of the proposed program.
