The Sociology Department 2024–2025 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony was held enthusiastically on May 26, 2025, at the university campus with a large turnout of students and their families.
The ceremony began with the opening speech of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Orcan, who congratulated the graduates and thanked the faculty members and families for their contributions. He emphasized that university education is not limited to professional knowledge, but also represents an important threshold in recognizing one’s responsibilities toward life and society.
Following this, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Tutar, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, delivered his speech. He highlighted that the sociological perspective gained throughout their studies will enable students to become more sensitive and critical individuals—not only in their professional careers, but in all areas of life. He also offered suggestions for future career planning and wished the graduates success on their academic and professional journeys.
The next speaker was Prof. Dr. Ramazan Yelken, Chair of the Department of Sociology. Prof. Dr. Yelken emphasized the academic bond established between the department and the students, noting that graduation is not merely an ending but also the beginning of new paths. He expressed his hope that the graduates would continue to contribute positively to society in their future lives.
After the speeches of the protocol members, awards were presented to the top-ranking students in the department. The first, second, and third-place graduates were invited to the stage, where they received their gifts and delivered short thank-you speeches.
In the final part of the program, students and parents were given the opportunity to speak. Parents expressed their pride and joy, while students reflected on the knowledge, experience, and friendships gained over the past four years. The heartfelt atmosphere of this segment filled the venue with frequent applause and warm smiles.
