Dr. Bahattin Cizreli, a member of our department’s academic staff, participated in the 2nd International Filyos Sustainable Development and Logistics Congress held on April 18, 2024. The congress was organized by the Governorship of Zonguldak and the Filyos Sustainable Development Application and Research Center of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEU).
At the congress, a paper titled “The Filyos Valley Project and Local Dynamics: Development and Social Change,” jointly prepared with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alkan Üstün and Dr. Sinan Acar, was presented. The presentation was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alkan Üstün on behalf of the research group.
The research is based on a qualitative field study conducted during the summer of 2024 in the town of Filyos and its surrounding villages. It examines how large-scale investments and rapid social changes in the region are perceived by the local community. The findings will be published in an academic journal in December 2025.
