As part of the foundational 'MSE101 Introduction to Materials Engineering' course, our first-year students participated in a comprehensive technical trip to the Ereğli Iron and Steel Factories (ERDEMİR).

This important visit provided a critical opportunity for our students to see how the theoretical knowledge they are acquiring in the early weeks of their studies is applied on an industrial scale. At ERDEMİR, one of Turkey's largest integrated iron and steel facilities, students had the chance to observe the complex production processes firsthand—starting from the intake of raw materials, through ore processing, steelmaking, and the final conversion into products like plates and coils.

This site visit helped our students gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental role of metallurgy and materials engineering in the industry and provided strong motivation for this foundational course at the start of their academic careers.
