Our department has access to metallographic sample preparation, ceramics, scanning electron microscopy, and x-ray diffraction laboratories located on the 15 Temmuz Şehitleri campus. Additionally, advanced equipment in the Central Laboratory at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University supports our department's needs. A detailed list of departmental laboratories is provided below.
Metallography Laboratory
It is used for sample preparation for material characterization. Sample preparation, grinding, polishing, and etching processes are carried out in this laboratory. Additionally, practical applications of various courses are conducted in this laboratory.
Characterization Laboratory
Optical microscopic and mechanical characterization of materials is carried out in this laboratory. The microhardness tester and optical microscope are located here.
Electron Microscopy Laboratory
The scanning electron microscope (SEM), used for internal structure analysis of materials, is located in this laboratory. Additionally, practical applications of various undergraduate courses are conducted here.
Material Furnace Laboratory
It is used for high-temperature applications such as sintering, binder burnout, and calcination for ceramic, metal, and polymer materials. The laboratory is equipped with two tube furnaces, three chamber-type furnaces, and one atmosphere-controlled furnace.
Computer Laboratory
It is used for computer-based courses needed in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. In our department, it is used for the course "Computer Aided Engineering Drawing".
Central Research Laboratory (MERLAB)
In addition to these laboratories, the Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD), Thermal Analysis, Metallography, and Raman Spectroscopy laboratories, as well as many other laboratories located in the Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center (MERLAB) at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, also meet the needs of our department.
