Graduate Studies (MSc & PhD)

Master's (MSc) and Doctoral (PhD) degrees are offered in the Department of Materials Engineering under the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. You can access the opened courses and course contents from the courses tab under the Education menu. Detailed information about the doctoral program, announcements, entrance requirements, entrance exam dates, regulations, and other information should be followed from the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences website. Objectives and Scope

Materials engineering is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering based on both scientific and technological approaches. In addition to basic sciences such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology, subjects covering all areas of life from aviation to health fall within the field of study of materials engineering. With our graduate programs, we aim to meet the intense demand for interdisciplinary studies in our country.

It is aimed that individuals who want to specialize in these fields gain the following competencies:

  • Increasing theoretical knowledge in the field of materials,
  • Being able to design experiments and produce a laboratory-scale product thanks to our existing infrastructure,
  • Using analysis and calculation software effectively,
  • Gaining the ability to interpret theoretical, experimental, and numerical results obtained.

Why Graduate Studies in Our Department?

The real progress in technology is driven by developments in materials science. Academic publications produced in the field of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering have surpassed engineering fields such as Mechanical, Electrical-Electronics, and Computer Engineering, as well as Natural Sciences such as Physics and Chemistry, constituting 6.1% of scientific papers indexed by the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE).

Our department has an experienced and dynamic academic staff conducting research in a wide range of fields. We prepare our students with an interdisciplinary approach to meet the industrial and societal demands of sectors such as aerospace, biomedical, automotive, energy, and telecommunications, as well as state institutions and academic institutions.
