Maşallah Nar, a brilliant and promising young research assistant from the Department of Medieval History at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, sadly passed away on 29 October 2021 due to a relentless illness. Known by everyone around him as an honest and courageous person, a devoted Muslim, a caring father and a good husband, Maşallah Nar’s historical and contemporary studies on the Middle East, especially Iran, were of high academic quality. Possessing not only proficiency in regional languages but also a strong and sharp analytical mind, we believe that Maşallah Nar’s passing at such an early age is a great loss not only for those who knew him but also for Turkish academia.
