AYBÜ Research Assistant Kübra Temiz Arslan translated Alice Miller's book The Untouched Key

Our department’s research assistant Kübra Temiz Arslan has translated Alice Miller’s book *The Body Never Lies* from German into Turkish. Congratulations!

This book explores the impact of early life experiences on an individual’s development, a topic of significant importance in psychological literature. The texts consist of articles, interviews, responses to reader letters, and conclude with a story. This story narrates a mother’s liberation from the prison of her childhood and the narrow molds of societal norms.

The collection does not comprise chapters of a single book but rather includes various independently written pieces. As a result, readers may encounter repetitions of certain topics. These repetitions are essential to preserve the contextual integrity of each text, and removing them would compromise the coherence of the content. Within the context of the current collection, some themes are addressed multiple times to maintain the internal logic of each piece. We hope this book will be of value to readers interested in clinical psychology and the effects of early experiences on individual development.

Translator’s Note
This book explores the impact of early life experiences on an individual’s development, a topic of significant importance in psychological literature. In translating this work from the original German, I aimed to remain faithful to the text without distorting its meaning, while also ensuring a fluent and comprehensible language in Turkish.

Some concepts posed challenges in finding direct equivalents in Turkish, so I supported the translation with footnotes or contextual explanations where necessary. Especially for psychological, social, and cultural terms, I opted for a meaning-oriented approach to make them more accessible to readers.

This work represents my first step in contributing a German-language piece to the Turkish psychology literature. I hope the book will benefit readers, particularly those interested in clinical psychology and the effects of early experiences on individual development.

With love and respect,
Kübra Temiz Arslan
