There are three sub-departments at the Department of Philosophy at AYBU: History of Philosophy, Systematic Philosophy and Logic, and History of Turkish Islamic Thought:
Department Of History Of Philosophy
The mission of the sub-department of History of Philosophy is to examine and understand the development of philosophy in the ages and to prepare the basis for participating in this movement. In this context, our vision is to recognize, understand and make sense of the philosophical thought produced in all civilization circles. In this way, it is to gain the holistic philosophical view that our civilization needs and to develop a philosophical attitude in this way.
Department Of Systematic Philosophy And Logic
The vision of the sub-department of Systematic Philosophy and Logic is to try to present the philosophical activity in the history of humanity in a systematic manner in teaching. Its mission is to critically examine the basic theories, concepts and problems of Philosophy, intellectual theses, rationales in the context of existence, knowledge, science, logic, ethics and aesthetics in classical and modern contexts and to contribute to the search for balanced solutions by teaching philosophy.
Department Of History Of Turkish Islamic Thought
Our sub-department focuses its studies on Turkish and Islamic philosophers and within this framework, Pre-Islamic Turkish Thought, Islamic Philosophy, Islamic Sufism, IX-XV-XVI-XVIII. century Turkish Thought, Contemporary Turkish Thought. It is our mission to develop a philosophical attitude that feeds on tradition by dominating the problems and responses produced in these fields.
