General Information About The Department

At the Department of Philosophy at AYBU established in 2010; there are three sub-departments: History of Philosophy, Systematic Philosophy and Logic, and History of Turkish Islamic Thought. Our education program includes Bachelor's, Master's with Thesis and Doctorate programs. Our department continues its teaching service with five professors, three associate professors, two assistant professors and two PhD research assistants.

The aim of the Department of Philosophy is to present the philosophical heritage of humanity to students with philosophical thinking, attitude and interdisciplinary approach, thanks to our qualified teaching programs and researches.

Our graduates of the Department of Philosophy can find opportunities to work in many fields. With the skills of inquiry, analysis, inclusive thinking, explanatory and convincing writing, graduates can be employed in public institutions and organizations, in the private sector or in business areas that require general culture and creativity.

 

Program Educational Objectives

PEO1: To educate individuals equipped to serve as philosophy group teachers in the Ministry of National Education and its affiliated institutions.

PEO2: To prepare individuals with the qualifications and competencies necessary to work in public institutions, meeting the requirements of the contemporary era.

PEO3: To prepare individuals with the qualifications and competencies necessary to work in the private sector, aligned with the demands of the modern world.

PEO4: To cultivate the ability to conduct interdisciplinary research and engage in collaborative work.

PEO5: To equip individuals with the conceptual, theoretical, and methodological knowledge required for academic research.

PEO6: To instill the skills of critical thinking, interdisciplinary reading and writing, establishing connections between events, multidimensional thinking, and drawing conclusions.

PEO7: To develop individuals with ethical responsibility, effective communication skills, and the capacity to be good and active citizens.

PEO8: To nurture individuals who embrace lifelong learning and actively contribute to social, cultural, and scientific fields.
