The Department of Philosophy at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University offers students a qualified philosophy education and research environment that meets international standards. Our department boasts a strong and competent academic staff. Thanks to its up-to-date curriculum and rich range of elective courses, students have the opportunity to both deepen their knowledge in the fundamental areas of philosophy and engage with different disciplines. Furthermore, students have the option to pursue double major and minor programs with other undergraduate programs in our Faculty.
Students of AYBÜ Philosophy gain the competence to approach philosophical problems from a broad perspective by examining Western, Eastern, and Islamic intellectual traditions together. This multifaceted approach ensures that students not only gain intellectual depth but also develop critical, creative, and original thinking skills.
Our department views philosophy not only as an intellectual activity but also as a part of social life. Accordingly, our students have the opportunity to work in a wide variety of fields such as teaching, publishing, editing, human resources, non-governmental organizations, education, and philosophical counseling.
At our young and dynamic university in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, students find the opportunity to develop themselves in a multifaceted way through social, cultural, and intellectual activities alongside their academic growth.
Choosing the right university and the right department is the beginning of not only a professional but also an intellectual journey. The AYBÜ Department of Philosophy aims to cultivate individuals who will stand out in the future of Turkey with their intellectual depth, critical consciousness, and commitment to human values.
Opportunities We Offer Our Students
As the Department of Philosophy, offers our students opportunities to develop themselves not only within Turkey but also at an international level. Within the scope of the Erasmus+ Exchange Program, we have active agreements with six universities in Europe; this allows our students to study abroad for one or two semesters and enrich their philosophical knowledge in different cultures. Additionally, through the Farabi and Mevlana exchange programs, there is the opportunity to study or intern at different universities in Turkey and around the world. These programs support our students' academic, cultural, and personal development, enabling them to become individuals who can think on a global scale and express themselves effectively in diverse environments.
