Our department faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Ethem ARIOĞLU gave a presentation titled “Turkish Language and Its Teaching in Qatar” at 3:00 PM on November 26, 2025, in the Kaşgarlı Mahmud Amphitheater.
Sharing his experiences as a visiting faculty member at Qatar University during the approximately one-hour program with our department's faculty members and students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arıoğlu began the event by introducing Qatar and providing information about the country's geographical location and Turkey-Qatar relations. He then pointed out that the political actions of the Republic of Turkey in Qatar had a positive impact on educational activities between the two countries, emphasizing that these actions played an important role in the positive view of the Qatari people towards our country and the Turkish people.
Arıoğlu also touched upon the role of Turkish TV series in spreading the Turkish language in the Arab world and addressed the problems encountered in teaching Turkish to foreigners in terms of resources and methods. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eroğlu concluded his speech by mentioning that graduates of the Turkish Language and Literature Department could work at institutions such as the Yunus Emre Institute, TIKA, TÜRKSOY, and the Turkey Maarif Foundation, and that there were career opportunities in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners. His speech was followed attentively by the teaching staff and students participating in the program. The event concluded with the presentation of gifts to Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Ethem Arıoğlu by our department chair, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Erdoğan, and a photo session.
