WHY CHOOSE THE TURKISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE DEPARTMENT AT AYBÜ?

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBÜ) was established in 2012 within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Our department continues to provide undergraduate education and instruction at the Esenboğa Campus. The language of instruction for undergraduate programs is Turkish; graduate-level instruction is also conducted in Turkish.

Emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach, our department offers our students a wide range of double major and minor options. In this context, our students have the opportunity to pursue a double major in departments such as History and Philosophy, and to pursue a minor in departments such as History, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, and Information and Records Management. Our department also offers graduate education opportunities through thesis-based master’s and doctoral programs.

Our department boasts a strong academic faculty of 25 members, comprising 23 faculty members and 2 research assistants. Our fundamental principle is that courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels are taught by faculty members who are experts in their respective fields (primarily in core disciplines such as Old Turkish Language, Modern Turkish Language, Old Turkish Literature, Modern Turkish Literature, and Turkish Folk Literature).
