1. Aim and Scope
Economic & Financial Analysis Letters (EFL) is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes short, high-impact, and original research in economics, finance, public finance, and related disciplines.
The journal adopts a letter format and prioritizes originality, methodological rigor, analytical clarity, and reproducibility.
EFL accepts manuscripts only in English and Turkish. All submissions must include a title, abstract, keywords, and JEL classification codes in English.
2. Manuscript Type and Length
The journal publishes only manuscripts in the letter format.
Studies submitted in the letter format should have the following characteristics:
- A clearly defined research question
- A clear theoretical or empirical contribution
- Concise and appropriate positioning within the relevant literature
- Transparent and reproducible methodology
- Direct and clear presentation of findings
Length Requirements
- Main text: 2,000–3,000 words, excluding references and appendices
- Abstract: 150–200 words
- An online appendix may be provided for technical details
- Manuscripts exceeding these limits may be returned without being sent for peer review.
3. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should include the following sections:
- Title
- Abstract
- Keywords: 3–6 keywords
- JEL Classification Codes
- Introduction
- Data and Methodology or Theoretical Framework
- Findings
- Conclusion
- References
- Appendix, if applicable
The introduction should clearly state the research gap and the contribution of the study. Long and detailed literature reviews should be avoided.
4. Double-Blind Peer Review Policy
The journal applies a strict double-blind peer review system.
Each manuscript is:
- Subject to initial editorial screening
- Checked for similarity and plagiarism
- Evaluated by at least two independent reviewers
Submission Files
Authors are required to upload the following files:
A. Anonymous Manuscript File
The anonymous manuscript file must not include:
- Author names
- Institutional affiliations
- Acknowledgements
- Funding information
- Any statements or information that may reveal the identity of the author(s)
B. Cover Page — Separate File
The cover page must include:
- Author names and institutional affiliations
- ORCID numbers
- Corresponding author information
- Funding information
- Conflict of interest statement
- Ethics committee approval information, if applicable
Failure to comply with anonymization requirements may result in rejection before peer review.
5. Publication Ethics and Research Misconduct Policy
The journal adopts international publication ethics standards in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Author Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that:
- The work is original
- The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere
- All sources are properly cited
- The data are accurate and have not been falsified or manipulated
- Authorship is based on genuine scholarly contribution
- Any potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers must:
- Maintain confidentiality
- Provide objective evaluations
- Disclose any conflicts of interest
- Refrain from using privileged information for personal advantage
Editor Responsibilities
Editors must:
- Make fair and impartial decisions
- Base their decisions solely on academic criteria
- Maintain confidentiality
- Avoid conflicts of interest
In Cases of Research Misconduct
If plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission, or any ethical violation is detected:
- The manuscript may be rejected or retracted
- The authors’ institutions may be notified
- A formal investigation may be initiated
6. Policy on AI-Assisted Writing
Authors are required to disclose any artificial intelligence tools used during the preparation of the manuscript.
Permitted Uses:
- Language editing
- Grammar correction
Prohibited Uses:
- Data generated by artificial intelligence
- Undisclosed AI-assisted analyses
- Listing artificial intelligence as an author
Authors remain fully responsible for the entire content of the manuscript. If artificial intelligence tools have been used, this must be disclosed on the cover page.
7. Data Transparency and Reproducibility Policy
For empirical studies, the following statements are required:
Data Availability Statement
Authors must indicate whether the data are:
- Publicly available
- Available upon request
- Restricted, with a clear justification
Code Availability Statement
Authors must indicate the availability of statistical codes and replication files, including files prepared in software such as Stata, R, Python, or similar programs.
Manuscripts may be rejected if adequate transparency is not provided.
8. Preprint Policy
The journal permits the submission of manuscripts previously published as preprints on the following platforms:
- SSRN
- arXiv
- RePEc
- Institutional repositories
Authors must disclose preprint information at the time of submission.
Once the manuscript is accepted, the preprint version should be updated to indicate the final journal publication.
9. Appeals and Complaints Process
Authors may appeal editorial decisions. Appeals must include:
- A reasoned written explanation
- A point-by-point response document
Appeals are evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and, when necessary, by an independent editor.
Complaints concerning ethical issues or misconduct are reviewed confidentially.
10. Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of:
- Institutional pressure
- Financial influence
- The author’s title, rank, or institutional affiliation
The final decision is based solely on academic criteria.
11. Special Issue Policy
Special issues may be prepared:
- By decision of the Editorial Board
- Upon the proposal of guest editors
Guest editors must:
- Comply with the double-blind peer review system
- Avoid conflicts of interest
- Apply the journal’s editorial standards
The final acceptance decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
12. Formatting Guidelines
Manuscripts should comply with the following formatting requirements:
- A4 page size
- 2.5 cm margins
- Times New Roman, 12-point font
- 1.5 line spacing
- Justified text alignment
- Tables and figures must be clear, understandable, and numbered
- Equations must be numbered
13. Citation Style — APA 7th Edition
The journal uses the APA 7th edition citation style.
