About Us
The Department of Economics, Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, aims to train future economists through the educational, training, and educational opportunities it provides undergraduate students in the field of economics. The content of the Department of Economics is designed to equip students with the fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge that will prepare them for successful economists in positions they hold in the private sector, public sector, and international institutions.
The Department of Economics embraces the rapidly changing and developing world, embracing Turkey's geopolitical importance in the region and following a curriculum aligned with Turkey's future goals. The goal is to cultivate individuals who are confident and empowered to speak their minds both domestically and internationally. Turkey possesses significant potential in terms of human and natural resources. Its geopolitical position necessitates the implementation of dynamic economic policies. Therefore, Turkey needs well-trained, knowledgeable, and self-confident entrepreneurs, economists, financiers, diplomats, politicians, and intellectuals to capitalize on its opportunities and geopolitical position.
The Department strives to provide academic employment opportunities and equip students with skills suitable for employment in both the public and private sectors through the education, training, and teaching opportunities offered. The Department of Economics prioritizes equipping young people with the knowledge to utilize fundamental economic knowledge and analysis methods in education, teaching, and training, and to develop their research, decision-making, responsibility, and analytical thinking skills. The Department of Economics has adopted the fundamental vision of becoming a center of excellence in our country for the study, teaching, and training of economics within the next decade. The Department of Economics began undergraduate education in the 2011-2012 academic year. Excluding the preparatory class, the Department offers four years of instruction in English. The Department, which accepts English as the language of instruction, is attended by many students from Asia, Africa, and the Balkans.
Bachelor's Degree
Our program spans four years, excluding the preparatory year, and offers a wide range of courses. Our students are provided with fundamental, theoretical, applied, and current knowledge in economics. The program's content is designed to prepare students for both academic and professional life.
Graduate Degrees
AYBU's Department of Economics offers students not only undergraduate but also graduate programs. Our students have the opportunity to continue their academic studies and specialize in areas such as economic theory, economic policy, economic history, and economic growth and development.
