As part of a cooperation protocol signed between Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and the Pursaklar District Directorate of National Education, awareness-raising training sessions titled “The Impact of Social Media on Consumption Habits and Consumer Rights” for students have commenced.
Nowadays, consumption-driven influences, misleading advertisements, and unconscious spending habits, especially those to which young people are heavily exposed through digital platforms and social media, have emerged as significant social issues. Within this context, the training addressed the effects of social media on consumption behaviors, the importance of being a conscious consumer, risks that may be encountered in digital environments, and basic consumer rights. The aim was to increase students’ awareness through evaluations based on examples from daily life.
Through this event, it was intended to encourage students to use social media more consciously, recognize their rights as consumers, and become better equipped against manipulative influences they may encounter in the digital world. At the end of the program, students’ questions were answered, and the training was completed efficiently and interactively.
