Within the scope of the 248. Wednesday Seminar of AYBU Faculty of Law, Dr. Onur Yüksel, the General Director of TOBB UYUM, made a presentation on “Current Developments in Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods”
In his presentation, Onur Yüksel firstly referred to the definition of mediation and its historical background and importance nowadays. Touching on the differences between bargaining and negotiation, Dr. Yüksel mentioned the role of negotiation and underlined that the most important and fundamental problem in mediation in our country is that the awareness of negotiation has not been fully established. In this context, the underlying reasons why mediation does not develop as desired in our country are mentioned and it is stated that conscious and voluntary participation in mediation is very important in terms of benefiting from the advantages of mediation. Then, addressing the developments in Turkey’s becoming an international mediation center, he particularly implied the importance of commercial mediation tourism.
