246. Wednesday Seminar – A Presentation was held on the “Evaluation of Cases Occurring due to Earthquake in the Context of Criminal Law”
Within the scope of the 246. Wednesday Seminar of AYBU Faculty of Law, Research Assistant Atacan Bozyel, from Department of Criminal and Criminal Procedure Law, made a presentation on “Evaluation of Cases Occurring Due to Earthquake in the Context of Criminal Law”.

 
In his presentation, Atacan Bozyel firstly presented various data on the earthquake that took place on the 6th of February 2023. He then emphasized the actions that occurred as a result of the earthquake, which could be evaluated in terms of criminal law. In this context, the presenter underlined various types of crimes such as crimes against life, crimes against bodily immunity and abuse of power and touched upon the problems that may arise in the application of penal norms to cases that occurred after the earthquake. Within the scope of the presentation, the issue of determining the criminal liability and determining its limit was discussed in terms of action, person and moral element. Finally, the application was evaluated in the context of the Bahar Hotel case, which emerged after the Van earthquake and the potential effect of the trials that would take place after the Maraş earthquakes was assessed.
