242. Wednesday Seminar: Personal Copying Exemption in Intellectual and Artistic Works and its Applicability in Cloud Storage Systems

In the 242. Wednesday Seminar of AYBU Faculty of Law, Assist. Prof. Dr. Osman Bugra Beydogan, from Intellectual Property Law Department, made a presentation titled “Personal Copying Exemption in Intellectual and Artistic Works and its Applicability in Cloud Storage Systems”.

In his presentation, Dr. Beydogan, firstly mentioned the digital transformation with the subjects of rights arising from the work and the general view of the restrictions imposed on them. Within this context, he particularly touched upon the position of copyright law and then he emphasised the restrictions and exceptions to copyright with the explanation of the related 3-step test. He further referred the restrictions on copyrights under the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works (FSEK) as well as the conditions of reproduction right and reproduction for personal use. Dr. Beydogan finalised his presentation by discussing the right to reproduce in terms of computer programs and the use of cloud storage systems in details and examining the relevant decisions of the European Court of Justice.
