Within the scope of the 238th Wednesday Seminar of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Law, a presentation on “Conciliation in Islamic Criminal Law” was made by Res. Assist. Mücahit Sak from Department of Islamic Law.
In his presentation, Res. Assist. Mücahit Sak touched upon the statistics with regard to cases resolved through conciliation in our country and the types of crimes that are most conciliated. After then, he focused on the concepts of restorative justice and conciliation.
The presenter explained the application of the institution of conciliation in Islamic Criminal Law from the historical perspective as well as the States that are applying Islamic Law today. Following, he gave related examples from the world and underlined the fact that conciliation in Islamic Law has been an applied method in all areas of law from the very beginning.
