Within the scope of the 237th Wednesday Seminar of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Law, a presentation on “Limiting Maritime Jurisdiction in the Age of Global Warming” was made by Halil İbrahim Akcan, Research Assistant at the Department of Maritime Law.
In his presentation, Research Assistant Halil İbrahim Akcan gave information about the current situation and future of the rise in sea level due to global warming and focused on the impact of this situation on various countries, especially Turkey. In this context, the speaker, explaining the concept of maritime jurisdiction, talked about approaches and state practices on how to limit maritime jurisdiction areas and underlined that the rise in sea level made the determination of maritime jurisdiction areas controversial, and mentioned the attitude of the international community on the subject.
