226. Wednesday Seminar of the AYBU School of Law titled ‘Alternative Dispute Resolution
(ADR) in Islamic Family Law’ was presented by Research Assistant Mustafa Aktürk from the
Department of Islamic Law.
In his presentation, Res. Assist. AKTÜRK drew attention to the increasing number of divorces in
Turkey based on the TÜİK data and discussed Islamic law approach to ADR in domestic disputes
which are planned to be implemented in Turkish Family Law . He evaluated Islamic Law
approach to ADR by providing examples from Ottoman practice in Classical and Post-Tanzimat
period and the family mediation models currently applied in Malaysia.
