During the Fall Semester of the 2026–2027 Academic Year, Assistant Professor Dr. Tuğrul ÇAKIR will offer the course titled LAW341: Moot Court I.
This course serves as preparation for the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition. In its inaugural year, our Faculty team achieved 4th place in Europe and won the "Best Memorial" award; our second team ranked 5th in Europe and received an "Honorable Mention."
Participation in this competition enhances student employability, provides networking opportunities with leading international legal scholars worldwide, and develops written and oral advocacy skills. The official language of the competition is English, and it carries high global prestige. To our knowledge, it is the only international moot court competition whose final rounds are judged by sitting Judges of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Students wishing to enroll in this course are expected to meet the following criteria:
• Be a 2nd-year student in our Faculty
• Possess an advanced level of English proficiency
• Demonstrate a strong interest in public international law and space law
• Hold a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 / 4.00
• Be highly motivated and idealistically inclined
• Demonstrate strong teamwork capabilities
Interviews will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in the Courtroom (Floor -2). A one-year preparation period will be planned for the successful candidates following the interview process.
Interested students must submit an application email to one of the contact addresses listed below no later than Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 17:00. The application email must include:
1. A brief Statement of Purpose / Motivation Letter (in PDF format, written in either Turkish or English, max. 1 page)
2. An official Transcript
3. Documentation of English Language Proficiency, if available (e.g., E-YDS, YDS, YÖKDİL, TOEFL, IELTS, or AYBU English Preparatory Exam scores)
