The situation of the conciliation institution, which is one of the alternative dispute resolution methods in Islamic law and stands as one of the three most important legal systems in the world, will be examined from the perspective of criminal law. First, the concept of restorative justice and reconciliation will be discussed; then, some key concepts will be explained to understand the institution of conciliation in Islamic criminal law. Next, the conciliation institution’s legal basis and historical development will be mentioned, and the current practices will be touched upon in the last part.
