Important Announcement

Placement test is only for new students. English Proficiency Exam is open for both existent students and new students who score at least 59,5 points at the placement test.

Examinations will be held face to face at our school.

Students who would like to take exam are required to apply for. Applications will be opened on the given date at YDY website: aybu.edu.tr/yabacidiller

Students who do not take exam will be placed to prep class and will start from Level A.

Students who are newly registered to our university will first take the placement test and students who score at least 59,5 points at the placement test can take English Proficiency Exam.
Information About the Exams
Placement Test (PT) (100 points)
Placement Test is for new students who are registered at ALL (Turkish&English) departments in 2022.
*** Students from departments which are in 100% or 30% English are required to take this exam to be able to take English Proficiency Exam(EPE) then. Students who score at least 59,5 points at the placement test can take EPE.
**** Students from departments in Turkish will take this exam to be exempt from compulsory classes of ING 101-102/ING 103-104. Students who score 59,5 points at this exam will be exempt from classes of ING 101-102/ING 103-104.
Content: 100 questions (grammer, vocabulary, reading)
You will not lose marks if you give an incorrect answer.
Time: 100 minutes
Purpose: This exam measures language skills of students. Therefore, students should bear in mind the purpose while taking the exam.
Levels:
0-39-Level A
39,5-79- Level A+
79,5-100- Level B
Students who score 59,5 points at the placement test can take English Proficiency Exam.

English Proficiency Exam (EPE)- 100 Points
Content: Writing
4 listening sections (each includes 5-8 questions; 25 questions in total)- 25 points
5 reading section(each includes 5 questions; 25 questions in total)- 25 points
1 writing section(opinion essay)-25 points
Content: Speaking
Speaking Section-2 sections-25 points
First section-3 short question-immediate answer-10 points
Second section- 1 statement-1 minute of thinking time and 2 minutes of speaking time about the statement-15 points
Time:
Writing: 160 minutes
Speaking: between 6-8 minutes (for each students)
Score to pass the exam: 69,5 points. You will not lose marks if you give an incorrect answer.
Levels:
49,5-69- Level B+
34,5-49- Level B
... -34- Level A+
Purpose: English Proficiency Exam aims to measure whether students are ready to take classes in English at their departments. If they pass the exam, they can continue to higher education at their departments. If not, they will continue to higher education at the School of Foreign Languages.
Students may attend to exemption course given by DILMER.
