The 5 th of the Cross-Workshops will be organized in our faculty.
The workshop will take place on 26.04.2022 Tuesday at 10:30, 6 th Floor Meeting Room.
Research Assistant Semra Betul Doganguzel will give a presentation titles “Engagement in
Ottoman Law’ in the workshop and will discuss the issues below:
1. Can law regulate the time and conditions of people’s engagement proposals?
2. Is mehr possible during the engagement period?
3. Can law regulate if people are suitable for each other to get married?
4. Can law regulate engaged people’s relationships?
5. Can there be any reparation if people break off an engagement?
6. If people break off an engagement, what to do with the gifts given to each other?
