An event titled “Step into the World of Games: Industry Introduction and Development Day” was organized by our university’s Software Engineering Club (ASEC) to help students gain a closer understanding of the game industry. The two-day event brought together industry representatives and students, followed by competitions that provided participants with an enjoyable experience.
The event began with opening speeches by our esteemed Dean Prof. Dr. Ergün Eraslan, the club’s advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yenal Arslan, and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yıldız. During the opening, the significance of the event, the club, and ÜNİDES was emphasized.
On the first day of the event, September 24, 2025, leading figures of the gaming industry met with students to share their knowledge and experiences. Mevlüt Dinç, a pioneer in the gaming world, spoke about his career journey and the games he developed. Mustafa Eyüp Karataş and Muhammed Onur Özçelikçi, founders of Otto Games, discussed the position of the Turkish gaming industry on a global scale, the “İlkoyun Anka Operasyonu” project developed in collaboration with TUSAŞ, and the transformation within hypercasual games. Efe Acer, founder of MadDuck, addressed the challenges in mobile game development, while Mehmet Arda Gündüz from TaleWorlds gave a presentation on the company and its game engine. Can Karabulut, founder of Rysesoft, shared his insights on various aspects of the industry, from game design to publishing strategies. Lastly, TOGED Secretary General Emek Barış Kepenek presented data on the gaming economy, e-sports, and global trends.
On the second day, September 25, 2025, students participated in a Game Jam event, where they developed game prototypes in teams within a limited time. The same day also featured a FIFA tournament, where students competed in a friendly atmosphere, enjoyed the experience, and received awards.
Throughout the two-day event, students had the opportunity to explore the gaming industry from multiple perspectives through conferences, workshops, exhibition areas, and networking opportunities.
