About Department
Software engineering undergraduate program aims to train engineers that can determine user requirements with the contribution of basic engineering and mathematics, design and develop software, use information technologies in order to meet the demands in the industry, adapt to changes and produce solutions. Students who complete the program successfully become Software Engineers that are equipped to take place in all areas of software projects such as analysis, design, coding, testing, and management, can develop mobile and web based applications, and have information and experience in most up-to-date fields like data science and artificial intelligence.
Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, which started its undergraduate education in 2011-2012, started admitting students to Software Engineering Department in 2021-2022 and the education language of the department is 100% English. The education period is a total of five years, including a one-year English preparatory class and a four-year undergraduate program. In the first years of the five-year education period, basic engineering courses are given, and in the third and fourth years, in addition to compulsory computer engineering courses, many elective courses will be offered to our students for them to specialize in the field they want. There are 2 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors, 2 Visiting Academiz Staffs and 6 Research Assistants in our department.
Software Engineering Department is located within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and has its own campus, which is situated in Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt Üniversitesi Etlik 15 Temmuz Şehitleri Campus, in a central location. In this campus, alongside theoretical and applied education, our students are also offered social opportunities with various sports activities.
Our department develops both its academic staff and its infrastructure to keep up with the change in computer technologies by providing a quality education opportunity to its students; It aims to raise knowledgeable, conscious, computer engineers who keep themselves up-to-date and give importance to ethical values.

Students who complete the Software Engineering Undergraduate Program successfully can take part in job positions like information technologies, engineering, consultancy, and research and development within national or international companies, and research activities within graduate programs of national and international universities. They will have job opportunities in many fields and organizations like companies focused in software development, research and development laboratories that utilize software technologies, businesses that produce and use information technologies, public organizations and institutions, and healthcare, aviation and defense industries. Since software is the most widespread communication, servicing and manufacturing tool of nowadays, our graduates have a very wide variety of job opportunities.
