The workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Higher Education: Redesigning Curricula” was held on September 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. on the 9th floor of the AYBU Etlik Milli Irade Campus.
The opening remarks were delivered by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Tutar. The program featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kemal Özdemir on the integration of artificial intelligence into higher education and interdisciplinary curriculum design; by Dr. Fatma Aladağ, Assistant Professor, on “Digital History: Not About Artificial Intelligence, but a Matter of Scale”; and by Prof. Dr. Güven Delice on micro-competencies.
In the age of artificial intelligence, it was concluded that the fundamental approach of the Turkish Language and Literature curriculum should be to cultivate “philologists and literary scholars who can use artificial intelligence critically, ethically, and methodologically,” rather than simply “Students who can use artificial intelligence.” Accordingly, based on the notes taken by our workshop group, it was deemed appropriate to update the curriculum and add new courses in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital humanities, digital literary studies, and creative writing. It was also decided that existing courses should be updated gradually.
