Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBÜ) Department of Turkish Language and Literature held an external stakeholder meeting to improve the quality of education and meet industry expectations. The meeting, held online on January 22, 2026, was attended by Dr. Ömer Gök, Vice President of the Atatürk Cultural Center, who shared his valuable insights.
The meeting discussed the results of the external stakeholder survey for the January 2026 period. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel Üst Erdem, Chair of the Department's Quality and Accreditation Commission, highlighted the demands for “digital literacy” and “foreign language skills” from graduates and the industry. Dr. Ömer Gök emphasized that fundamental knowledge (Ottoman Turkish, Old Turkish Literature, etc.) is indispensable, noting that combining this knowledge with today's technologies and digital libraries would provide students with a significant advantage.

It was decided that in order to increase students' motivation in challenging courses such as Old Turkish Literature, the practical applications of these courses in professional life, such as archiving and expertise, should be emphasized. Dr. Gök stated that graduates who want to make a difference in the sector should also improve themselves in foreign languages and literature.
As a result of the consultations, it was decided to take the following steps:
Digital Integration: Including digital literacy in field courses in new curriculum updates.
Career Planning: Organizing career days and seminars to introduce the sectoral relevance of Old Turkish Literature and language courses in particular.
Foreign Language Awareness: Providing students with information on international literature search methods during consultation hours.
Institutional Cooperation: Continuing mutual information exchange and dialogue with AKDTYK.
