A report on the research project titled "Turkish Bureaucracy in the Context of New Right Politics," conducted with support from the TÜBİTAK Research Support Programs Directorate (ARDEB) 1001 grant, was presented at a workshop on Friday, April 18, 2025. The workshop was held at the Ankara Hacı Bayram University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
The opening conference of the workshop was delivered by Presidential Chief Advisor Prof. Şükrü Karatepe, one of the esteemed professors who has made an indelible mark on our department's history. Our Head of Department, Prof. Yılmaz BİNGÖL, who contributed as a researcher to the aforementioned project, presented his paper titled "Bureaucracy in the Context of Public Relations and Democracy" at this meeting.
Our professor's paper evaluated the close interplay between bureaucracy and democracy in Turkey through the role of CİMER (Presidency's Communication Center) and the influence of social media. It also scrutinized the average citizen's comprehensive approach to bureaucracy by highlighting the tendencies of complaints to proceed through official and/or independent channels. The paper examined how different age groups evaluate the concepts of merit and governance within the bureaucracy from social, regional, perceptual, and experiential perspectives.
We congratulate our professor for being a crucial stakeholder in such research activities, which are essential to conduct regularly for the sustainability of the organic bond between the bureaucracy and the citizen. We hope his work will continue to inspire his young colleagues.
