DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the Faculty of Political Sciences aims to provide students with a robust theoretical foundation in the fields of political science and public administration, along with the ability to apply this foundation to contemporary issues. Offering a balanced formation in core sub-fields such as political theory, comparative politics, Turkish political life, administrative science, public policy, local governments, political sociology, and law, the program targets the development of a critical and holistic perspective. Our students are expected to master quantitative and qualitative research methods, produce evidence-based analysis, evaluate political-administrative processes at local, national, and international levels, and analyze the reflections of technological and social transformations within the realm of politics and administration.  Prioritizing the cultivation of individuals who follow global literature firsthand through English-medium instruction, our program considers Turkey's historical heritage and geopolitical position. We foster graduates committed to democratic values, public interest, professional ethics, and social responsibility. The curriculum is structured to enable our graduates to serve as qualified managers, experts, inspectors, and policy analysts in central and local government units, civil administration, administrative and constitutional judiciary, regulatory and supervisory agencies, international organizations, think tanks, NGOs, and the private sector. Furthermore, it prepares them to contribute to the democratic development and social transformation of their countries as actors sensitive to social issues, while providing a solid infrastructure for postgraduate studies and academic careers.

MISSION

The mission of our department is to cultivate individuals equipped with theoretical knowledge, methodological competence, critical thinking skills, and social responsibility through high-quality undergraduate and graduate education at international standards. We strive to produce original scientific research addressing the political and administrative challenges of Turkey and the world—including the transformations of the digital age—and to create a meaningful social impact by sharing this expertise with public institutions, policy-making processes, and society at large.

VISION

The vision of our department is to become a leading national and internationally recognized exemplary institution that produces original knowledge in political science and public administration. By merging the proximity provided by Ankara’s status as a political and administrative hub with the international reach of English-medium instruction, we aim to make a difference through our qualified graduates and contributions to society.
