Conference on ‘Autonomous Ships in the Law of the Sea’ was held at Ankara Yıldırım
Beyazıt University.
A conference titled ‘Autonomous Ships in Maritime Law’ was hosted by our University in
cooperation with Ankara University National Research Centre for Maritime Law
(DEHUKAM) and Swansea University International Institute of Maritime and Commercial
Law. Held on 23 October 2024 at the Conference Hall of our University, the event was
attended by our faculty member and DEHUKAM Expert Researcher Ass. Prof. Dr. Ceren
Cerit Dindar. Ass. Prof. Dr. Ceren Cerit Dindar, Faculty Member and DEHUKAM Expert
Researcher, Dr. Mustafa Başkara, Director of DEHUKAM, and Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Cengiz
Köseoğlu's opening speeches.

In the first session titled ‘Autonomous Ships and International Perspective’ chaired by Prof.
Dr. Samim Ünan from Piri Reis University Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Barış Soyer and Prof. Dr.
Georgios Leloudas from Swansea University Institute of International Maritime and
Commercial Law made presentations. The second session titled ‘Legal Problems and
Solutions for the Turkish Maritime Sector of Autonomous Ships’ was moderated by our Dean
Prof. Dr. Neslihan Karataş Durmuş. In the session, the outputs of the TUBITAK 1001 Project
numbered 220K072 and titled ‘Investigation of the Legal Problems that the Use of
Autonomous Ships in the Turkish Maritime Sector and the Related Solutions’ were presented.
In this context, Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Law faculty member Dr. Prof. Selim
Ciğer, and the members of our Faculty Ass. Prof. Dr. Ceren Cerit Dindar and Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Hatice Kübra Ecemiş Yılmaz made presentations.
