Within the scope of the 241st Wednesday Seminar of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Law, Dr. Lecturer Maya Ezgi Avcı made a presentation on “The Judicial System, Legal Education and the Law Profession in the United States”.
In her presentation, Dr. Lecturer Maya Ezgi Avcı touched upon the differences between the Anglo-Saxon (common law) and continental European (civil law) legal systems. Then she talked about the court structure of the United States of America, and in this context the federal and state court systems, and explained the jury system. Talking about the conditions of the current legal education in the United States and how it is carried out, she underlined that the requirements for attorney ship are different in each state within the federal system. She gave information about the common application criteria for the bar exam, how this exam is conducted, and post-exam procedures.
