AYBÜ Arabic Translation and Interpretation Students' Outstanding Achievement

FSMVÜ, Debate Application and Research Center, and Qatar Debate Center (Qatar Debate) held the third annual Turkish Inter-University Arabic Debate Competition this year. Our team, participating from the Arabic Translation and Interpretation program in the Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, won medals in two different categories—native Arabic speakers and non-native Arabic speakers—making us a source of pride. Our team fought its way to the semifinals and came in third in the non-native Arabic speakers category, behind Ibn Haldun University and Selçuk University.

During the team's preparation for the competition, Duha Dudu Karaca, one of our department students, took on the role of team coordinator, overseeing the team's formation, training, and preparation process. Associate Professor Mehmet Sadık Gür, Vice Chair of the Department, provided encouragement and support during the team's formation and progress.

Representing our university in the competition were Arabic Translation and Interpretation students Şeyma Karaca, Muharrem Aycil, Kalbinur Abıthacı, and Betül Hamo. Among our students, Şeyma Karaca won a medal in the category for native Arabic speakers, while Kalbinur Abıthacı won a medal in the category for non-native Arabic speakers.

In the Turkish Inter-University Arabic Debate Competition, Dr. Mehmet Sadık Gür, a faculty member from the Arabic Translation and Interpretation Department, and our student Duha Dudu Karaca actively supported the competition process and also served as judges in the debates of other participating teams. We congratulate our valuable AYBÜ students who achieved this success and thank all the authorities, especially our Department Chair, for their support.
