The Sub-Department of Arabic Language and Literature offers a graduate program that includes courses on Arabic grammar, oral and written expression, Arabic-Turkish and Turkish-Arabic translation, the cultural history of Arabic literature, Andalusian literature, classical and modern Arabic literature, and contemporary Arabic dialects. Additionally, scientific research is conducted, and theses are prepared at the master's level.
This program covers Arabic language and literature along with Arab culture and history, examining notable works from both classical and modern Arabic literature. It aims to ensure students have a strong grasp of period-specific literature. Alongside Modern Standard Arabic, key Arabic dialects from the Middle East are taught to enhance students' oral and written language skills.
The program's primary goal is to train academic staff for universities and provide education in various fields related to scientific research and publication. Additionally, it prepares graduates for roles such as translators and specialists in official institutions like the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the General Directorate of State Archives, libraries, customs, embassies, and consulates.
- Turkish Citizens can apply to the program with an undergraduate diploma and an ALES exam report of 55 points or more, or equivalent points in GRE, GMAT or other graduate exams recongnized by YÖK. Candidates will be admitted based on their combined points from ALES and their Undergraduate CGPA.
-International students can apply with an undergraduate diploma from a university recognized by YÖK. Candidates will e admitted by on their unddergraduate CGPA.
-To be admitted, candidates must have a CGPA of at least 2 out of 4, ALES points of 55 or more, and they must pass the interview.
This program utilizes various assessment methods including mid-term exams, research assignments, presentations and final exams. To finish the program, the students must have a CGPA of over 2,5.
