Scientific Research Project Types and Support Limits

Basic Research Projects are projects aimed at contributing to universal and national science, and can be conducted as single-discipline or multi-discipline projects depending on the nature of the research problem.

Single-discipline basic research projects are studies where the research question, theoretical framework, methodology, and analysis processes are defined within a single academic discipline, department, or division; and the scientific contribution is presented using the knowledge production tools of the same discipline. The fact that researchers involved in the project are from different institutions or receive limited input and technical support from different disciplines does not make the project multi-disciplinary, as long as the fundamental approach and scientific backbone of the research are based on a single discipline.

Single-Discipline Basic Research Project Support Limit: 400.000 TL

(TÜBİTAK 1001 Program Application Form will be used.)

Multidisciplinary basic research projects are studies where the nature of the research problem necessitates the theoretical and methodological contributions of more than one discipline, and interdisciplinary collaboration is not merely auxiliary but crucial to the project. In such projects, different departments/branches in health sciences and different departments in other fields contribute directly and equally to the solution of the research question; each discipline is represented within the project with its own unique methods and analytical processes. The exclusion of any discipline would compromise the scientific integrity of the research, which constitutes the fundamental distinguishing criterion of multidisciplinarity.

Multidisciplinary Basic Research Project Support Limit: 450.000 TL

These are research projects prepared in areas that support the vision, mission, and objectives included in Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University's 2025-2029 strategic plan, or projects proposed in response to a call from the Rectorate. Projects within this scope must be multidisciplinary.

These projects are created with the participation of faculty members from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and public institutions/organizations and private institutions (nationally recognized foundations, unions, companies, etc.) outside the university. In such projects, it is essential that the collaborating organization contributes a certain percentage to the project budget. Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University provides monetary and in-kind contributions in public-participation projects, while in projects with private institutions, it only provides in-kind contributions (human resources and/or the use of university infrastructure).

National Participation Research Project Support Limit: 450.000 TL

SHORT-TERM SUPPORT PROJECT - A: These are projects aimed at supporting short-term (maximum 12 months) and small-budget research projects that have the potential to develop into basic research projects.

Short-Term Support Project - A Support Limit: 100.000 TL

SHORT-TERM SUPPORT PROJECT - B: This is a type of support for doctoral dissertation studies that have the potential to develop into a fundamental research project. Within this scope, short-term research projects, lasting a maximum of 9 months, conducted by students who have successfully passed the doctoral qualifying exam at the AYBÜ Central Laboratory for preliminary review and preparation purposes, are supported. There is no obligation to publish research for projects carried out under this support type.

Projects submitted to TÜBİTAK (1001, 3005, 3501) by researchers, but deemed unsuitable for funding as a result of TÜBİTAK's peer review, are examined by the BAP Commission based on the relevant TÜBİTAK Evaluation Report, to address the deficiencies stated in the report and to ensure the project's alignment with institutional priorities. Based on this examination, the BAP Commission may directly approve the project, reject it, request revisions, or refer it for external peer review.

Support Amount to be Given for These Projects: Evaluated according to the type of project.

These research projects are created to foster an R&D culture among successful students enrolled in the formal education programs of our university's associate/bachelor's degree units, to encourage them to participate in research activities, and to motivate them to conduct research.[1].
