Symposium of Law and Societal Reality

The Symposium of Law and Societal Reality was held on 27 December 2016 hosted by AYBU Faculty of Law. The opening speech of the Symposium was made by Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of Law Prof. Dr. Ali Şafak BALI. Following his speech, Vice- Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Ünsal DÖNMEZ made his speech by proxy to Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. M. Fatih UŞAN.  In his speech, Honourable SÖNMEZ pointed out that the duties of lawyers and the obligation of revealing of the difference between legal norms and religious or moral norms by scientific methods.

At the first session, which was held under the chairmanship of Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet KILINÇ, Mustafa Nazif YILDIZ and Canan AKYÜZ respectively made presentation on the subjects of “The Development Level of Societies and the Alteration of Thought on Punishment” and  “The Legal Alteration of Crime and Punishment in Turkish Law and Law.

At the second session, Cahit YILMAZ made a presentation on the subject of “The Transition to Modern Society and Thought from Traditional Social Structures”, Hakan KÖYLÜ made a presentation on the subject of “The Ottoman Modernisation and Legal Alteration”, Sema Betül DOĞANGÜZEL made a presentation of the subject of “The Changing Social Structure in the Ottoman Empire and its Competition with the Ordinance on Family Law” and Ramazan Özgür PARLAYICI made a presentation on the subject of “Is Law a Tool for Social Engineering?”.

At the third session, Fatih Mehmet UZUN made a presentation on the subject of “Secularism, Being Secular and Law”, Murat ALABAŞ made a presentation on the subject of “Political Power, Ideologies and Law” and Yahya USMAN made a presentation on the subject of “The Role Human Rights on the Formation of Contemporary Law”.
