The conference titled ‘How Should the Structure of the Muslim Family Be?’ held this evening at the Hamburg DITIB Central Mosque attracted great interest. The program was delivered by Prof. Ömer Yılmaz, who previously served as Religious Services Attaché in Hamburg and is currently a member of the academic staff at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.
In his talk, Prof. Yılmaz underlined that today’s family structure is facing serious problems, noting strikingly that ‘families are unfortunately starting to fall apart.’ Addressing the problems encountered in marriages, Yılmaz particularly emphasized the points that need to be considered before marriage and stated that approximately 40% of marriages are strained due to family interference.
Prof. Yılmaz stated that in marriage, spiritual values, character, and religiosity should be prioritized over outward appearance, advising young people: "When choosing a spouse, look first at inner beauty rather than outer beauty."
While attendance at the conference was observed to be high, it was particularly noteworthy that women showed great interest in the event. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the information provided on ensuring peace within the family and maintaining a healthy marital structure. The event concluded with a question-and-answer session.
